Status checks for Personal Fitness MB

Mr. Terry Randall, counselor for the Eagle-required Personal Fitness Merit Badge, will be at the Troop meeting on Monday, April 10, to review progress on your physical fitness program. Bring your documentation to the meeting.

There were 13 Scouts who began the class on January 8, 2017. Those who began their fitness program immediately will be ready for their final physical tests (which will be scheduled for a later date). If you have not yet begun the fitness program you should do so immediately. In either case, we need to know where each participant stands on being ready to complete the badge. If you forgot what is required, click here to check out Requirements 7 & 8.

Campout, Eagle project, calendar updates

Several calendar items have been updated. Please check out the page for details. Of immediate importance is that those going on the campout will not be going on the long hike with the Philmont crew.

Trystan’s first Eagle Project workday went extremely well, with lots of help from Scouts and adults. He got most of the pieces for the five picnic tables cut out and pre-drilled, and even completed the assembly of one of the tables. A great example of how teamwork and planning can be effective, and demonstrated the importance of having many people pitch in to get a task completed.

Campout photos

Photos from the February campout at The Bottoms are now available. Click here to view photos.

After spending the night at church following the popcorn sales reward Pizza and Movie Night, Scouts got up nice and early for breakfast before heading out. Most of the morning was spent on skills – including a fire-building competition (where the last team to get their fire started ended up winning), knot tying and rope care, and a lesson from ASM Bill McIver on caring for cast iron cookware.  The afternoon was devoted to exploring the woods, and evening sitting around the campfire. Beautiful, unusually warm weather made for a great outing.
