Jack’s Eagle Project workday is still scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 9:00am at Rocky Hollow Park.  The weather seems to be cooperating for tomorrow’s workday.  We have a gazebo where we can seek shelter, if needed.

Scout attire is not required but the Garden Club has suggested scouts wear long pants that can tuck into socks for both poison ivy and ticks.  Wear old clothes that can get dirty and if the weather holds, we may be painting benches.

Jack W. Eagle Scout workday will be this Saturday at 9:00am at Rocky Hollow Park in Somerset.  The address is 142 S. Central Ave, Somerset, KY 42501.  We will meet in the parking lot and plan to work until about 3:00pm, weather permitting.  Families are welcome to join us.  Lunch will be provided.

We will be helping the Somerset Garden Club plant native plants that will provide food and shelter for wildlife.  This counts for conservation service hours.  If we have time, we will be sanding and painting benches throughout the park.  Gloves and other materials will be provided.  We can use extra shovels and rakes if you can bring them.  It will make the job go a lot faster.

The August Court of Honor is this Monday, August 20, 2018 at 6:30pm in the picnic shelter at East Somerset Baptist Church.  All scouts need to be there NO LATER than 6:15pm for setup.  Each patrol needs to have a skit/song prepared.  All scouts need to be in full class A uniform.  Families are invited.

Each patrol has been given a list of what they need to bring.

The Troop meeting on Monday, August 13, will be held AT FISHING CREEK BOAT RAMP. Wear your swim suit and Scout T-shirt as we will be have paddling practice. Please plan to arrive no later than 7 pm. This is for EVERYONE, not just those going on the canoe/kayak trip, as we will be going over three 1st Class requirements. (See calendar listing for details.) If you are going on the outing, your $10 food money will be collected. In case of bad weather, meeting will be held at East Somerset Baptist.

The troop’s popcorn kernel is wanting help to come up with a new idea for the $750 reward. Last year it was a water park pass, but because those who reached it didn’t want it she wants some help coming up with a new reward. If you have a idea, bring it to the next troop meeting

As a reminder, there will be no Troop meeting this Monday, July 2, 2018.  Our next Troop Meeting will be Monday, July 9, 2018 at 7:00PM.  The Troop Committee Meeting will also meet that day at 6:15pm.

Friday night, June 29, 2018 is Family Night at Camp McKee.  Families are welcome to visit the Troop for dinner and campfire program.  ALL GUESTS ARE REQUIRED TO CHECK IN at the Administration Building and receive a visitor’s pass.  Check in begins at 4:00pm.

Meal tickets are available from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the Administration Building, then at Stamler Dining Hall after 5:30 PM.  The cost should be around $5.  Cub scouts in uniform eat free.

**Please note**  Open-toed shoes are NOT permitted at Camp McKee and vehicles are not allowed past the parking areas.

As a reminder, we will be leaving from the Kmart parking lot at 9:30am on Sunday, June 24, 2018.  ALL Scouts MUST be in FULL Class A Uniform.  This includes pants, neckerchief and neckerchief slide.  All scouts need to have their raingear packed at the top of their footlocker for easy access.  Order of the Arrow scouts need to bring their Order of the Arrow sash.   No electronics are allowed.

There will be no regular Troop meeting on Monday, June 25, 2018.
