November meetings canceled

Troop 170 will not meet in-person for the rest of November. This is in keeping with recommendations from the governor and health department officials. I will assess the status of meetings in December as the weeks progress.

In the mean time, I wish each of your families a very happy, safe, socially-distanced, close-to-home Thanksgiving holiday.

Snow Sports Merit Badge, February 8-9, 2020 at Paoli Peaks, Paoli Indiana

The Snow Sports Merit Badge will be a joint Scout and Venture Crew activity.

All scouts who are 14 years old, or who will be 14 years old this year, are eligible to participate in the snow sports merit badge.  The snow sports merit badge class will be taught on February 8-9, 2020 at Paoli Peaks Ski Resort in Paoli, Indiana.  The merit badge class will include classroom instruction by the ski patrol and the tuning/tech shop.  There will be three, one hour ski classes taught on the slopes.  The cost is $75 per scout and includes the two day merit badge class, two day lift tickets and two days of ski rentals.  Parents may also take advantage of the two day ski rate including all lessons.  There may be some funding to help defray costs.

We are planning to share meals for all scouts and will be collecting $10/scout.  We will have more information about accommodations on Monday.  We are looking for a suitable cabin.

There will be a short meeting for parents and interested scouts on Monday, February 3, 2020 after the regular scout meeting in the East Somerset Baptist Church gym.  We will need a final headcount that night.

If you have any questions, you may text our Advancement Chair, Heidi Weatherly at 606 309 4922.
