Falls Cleanup & Crossover

Saturday, March 7, will offer two opportunities for service:

Cumberland Falls PRIDE Cleanup

Troop 170 will be participating in the annual Cumberland Falls PRIDE Cleanup. Scouts interested in participating should be at East Somerset Baptist Church at 7:30 am. We will be cleaning along a 3-mile section of roadway.

All participants must have a signed consent form (available from Mr. Vanover).

Wear your Class A T-shirt (if you earned one from popcorn sales) or a Scout-related T-shirt, boots or sturdy shoes (no open-toe shoes allowed), and bring a pair of work gloves. Bring water that can be carried with you as you are cleaning up, and pack a few snacks and/or a simple lunch that does not require staying cold.

Facemasks required for the drive to and from work site.

Cross-over Ceremony

We will be welcoming new Scouts to the Troop at a Webelos Cross-over Ceremony that will take place immediately following the Lake Cumberland District Pinewood Derby.

Scouts interested in participating should be at the Eubank Park Picnic Shelter by 11:45 am in full Class-A uniform (including neckerchief).

Scout Strong Virtual 5K

If you are interested in participating in a virtual 5K (3.1-mile) run/walk/hike, please let Scoutmaster Dale Morton know at Monday’s Troop meeting. The cost for the patch is $5 (for a registered Scout or leader) and $10 per non-Scout participant.

The registration form will be mailed on Tuesday. You will then receive an assigned number, which can be printed off. Take a photo of yourself completing the 5K and we will post it on the Blue Grass Council’s Facebook page. We will have until May 1 to complete the 5K. (FYI – there will be a 5-mile hike on our April campout, so that will meet the requirements.)
